West Brom pull out of race for PL midfielder – report

West Brom have ended their pursuit of Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles with Okay Yokuslu set to join the club, according to Rob Dorsett

It is set to be a busy deadline day at The Hawthorns with Sam Allardyce wanting to fill his two remaining loan spots.

One spot looks set to be filled by Yokuslu as he has completed a medical in Spain and this has ruled out a move for Maitland-Niles, according to the Sky Sports reporter.

Earlier today, Dorsett tweeted, “Okay Yokuslu has completed his West Brom medical in Spain, where he’s waiting for the visa paperwork to be finalised before he can fly to England and complete the deal.

“Officials confident the deal will get done today. Ends Albion’s interest in Ainsley Maitland-Niles.”

There is still one domestic loan space available to Allardyce which means he could sign the Arsenal man but it seems as though he may be happy with his midfield once Yokuslu signs.

It is still early on deadline day despite it being very late in the January window and it seems many clubs are rushing to complete last-minute deals.

With Albion no longer pursuing Maitland-Niles, it makes you wonder what kind of player they may target to fill that last loan spot.

There is no doubting that any additions today will be welcome but if we aren’t after another midfielder then surely that also rules out a move for Leicester’s Hamza Choudhury.

We have been linked with numerous attackers with Christian Benteke chief among them.

We could sign the Belgian as we have a domestic loan spot left but as ever his massive wages could prove to be a stumbling block.

There is no doubting that signing Maitland-Niles would’ve been a great move but the signing of Yokuslu has seemingly ruled this deal out.
