Adrian Goldberg has questioned the wasteful West Brom pair Matheus Pereira and Mbaye Diagne in the 0-0 draw against Burnley.
The Baggies somehow didn’t leave Turf Moor with all three points despite playing the majority of the game with 10-men after Semi Ajayi was dismissed.
Both Pereira and Diagne had more than one clear chance to find the back of the net, but were consistently wasteful or thwarted.
Speaking on his minute review of the game on his personal Twitter account, Goldberg wasn’t best pleased with Pereira and Diagne.
“Albion had their chances,” he said.
“Matheus Pereira went close a couple of times, he had one shot cleared off the line, but he lacked his usual incisiveness and confidence in front of goal.
“Diagne created and then wasted one excellent opening, blasting high over the bar from close range.”
This was a massive chance missed.
Burnley have played themselves out of danger recently but looked like their former selves yesterday, and the Baggies could have kickstarted their own survival run with three huge points.
Pereira had his second-highest expected goal total in one Premier League game this season behind that win at Wolves and failed to capitalise on the chances handed to him.
Diagne, on the other hand, worked hard to create his own chances, and when he did leave James Tarkowski in the dirt, he could only hit the bar.
Chances like this aren’t going to be handed to us every week, and when our luck isn’t in, things like this are going to happen.
