Chris Lepkowski has insisted he is “amazed” at the reaction of West Brom fans to Mbaye Diagne’s disallowed goal against Everton on Wednesday.
The Toffees left The Hawthorns with a 1-0 victory, but the colossal forward had equalised with nearly the last touch of the ball before it was ruled out for offside.
Sky Sports could only show one angle in their replays, but Lepkowski believes that it would have been massively different at St George’s Park where VAR is used.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, Lepkowski claimed that Baggies fans weren’t shown the full picture during the live coverage.
“Really amazed how many people assume one poor Sky clip was the sole basis for that WBA goal being disallowed,” he said.
“VAR officials at St George’s Park would have seen it from multiple angles. What we saw was merely a poorly cropped picture chosen by someone at Sky Sports. Totally irrelevant to VAR check.”

This wasn’t even the worst moment of the game.
We can admit that Diagne was offside, there is no escaping that nowadays with the millimetres used when drawing the lines in VAR.
The problem comes with the inconsistency in other decisions such as the challenges from the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
His challenge on Dara O’Shea was high but wasn’t even checked by the technology and that was something that amazes us more than one offside call.
We need more consistency at every level, immediately.
