Semi Ajayi insists that West Brom can stay in the Premier League despite plenty of evidence pointing to the contrary.
Albion sit 19th in the Premier League table and sit 10 points from safety with nine games still to play after the international break.
Ajayi insists that Albion have not c=written themselves off despite a lack of wins in the league and there is still a belief that a great escape can be pulled off.
“It’s not easy – we are desperate right now and we need points as soon as possible,” Ajayi told Complete Sports.
“I’d say everyone’s written us off but we definitely haven’t really written ourselves off. We are still fighting, we still haven’t given up.
“We still have belief, we still have hope and it’s just about taking one game at a time, giving our maximum and seeing where that takes us.
“Hopefully, that will keep us in the Premier League but we definitely haven’t given up.”
It’s nice to hear some positivity from an Albion player as there hasn’t been enough of that this season but most of us have given up on our chances of staying in the Premier League.
Under Sam Allardyce we haven’t really improved and we deserve to be where we are.
While our January business wasn’t awful, they haven’t had the required impact and it is hard to argue that we have a Premier League squad.
We’re not sure if that belief Ajayi mentions is actually rife among the Baggies first team as our recent performances have smacked of a team that is consigned to their fate.
At this point the best we can hope for is some improved performances before the end of the season or perhaps the announcement of a permanent deal for Okay Yokuslu.
We rate the sentiment Semi but unfortunately, you’re wrong.
