Clive Tyldesley was dumbstruck after West Brom beat Chelsea 5-2 on Saturday. afternoon at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea took the lead but Thiago Silva’s red card proved crucial as Albion ran riot, scoring more goals in 90 minutes than in their previous eight matches.

Matheus Pereira grabbed two and West Brom began to strut their stuff with three more goals that really impressed Tyldesley.

Commentating for talkSPORT’s GameDay Live, he said of Albion’s third goal, “It’s a fabulous West Brom goal, Callum Robinson volleyed it in. He caught that absolutely perfectly.”

Tyldesley thought he had seen the best of what Albion had to offer but was blown away when Mbaye Diagne added a fourth.

He added, “It’s a wonderful wonderful goal, it’s marvellous.

“It’s like watching Brazil, they were fantastic in that break, backheels reverse balls, first-time layoffs, and there at the end of it was Mbaye Diagne steering it beyond Mendy into the corner of the net

“Boing boing Baggies eh.”

What a performance

That was special. Very very special.

Heads easily could have dropped after going 1-0 down at a tough venue but we showed tremendous spirit to claw our way back.

Chelsea’s red certainly helped but we were on top of our game and no team could have dealt with us.

Some of the football was blinding and Pereira deserves special mention for his role in the goals.

He produced fine finishes to put us ahead but the vision and accuracy to find Diagne for our fourth was outstanding.

We have to take confidence from this display as it proves we can beat anyone on our day.

It has been a long time coming but this is a day worth remembering and shows how good Sam Allardyce is.

We still face a huge challenge to stay up but this result shows we simply have to keep Big Sam.

  1. Let’s not forget that Allardyces first response was to put Ivannovic on for goodness sake. When he got hurt running the rest was all Bilic
