Joseph Masi sure Pereira will leave and puts his transfer value at £18m
Matheus Pereira is likely to leave West Brom in the summer according to journalist Joseph Masi.
The Express and Star reporter can see the Brazilian leaving but is certain Albion will only let him go if a club meets their valuation, which Masi puts at £18-21million.
Aston Villa were recently linked to Pereira by The Athletic, and after nine goals and five assists this year the 24-year-old could have a number of suitors.
Commenting on his future, Masi told the Baggies Broadcast, “It’s going to be fascinating to see what happens with him because I’m sure he’ll leave.
“He’s got three more years left on his deal after this year so Albion could try and dig in and keep him.
“I think he will leave, where he’ll go is the big, big question really.
“Albion will set their valuation and he won’t leave until that valuation is met, that’s a given.
“The question is how much is he worth…I think he’s worth about £18million, add-ons could take it to £21million.”
Surely worth more?
Pereira has proven his quality in the Premier League and if we are to let our best outfield player leave then we hope we can get big bucks for his transfer.
The attacking midfielder has been superb since he first arrived at The Hawthorns in 2019.
He helped fire us to promotion last season and we are certain he could do the same again if he was to stay another year.
It would be a massive blow if he was sold therefore, and the only way we could recover is if we get a big sum, £20million or more.
That would allow us to bring in a player of his quality while strengthening other areas of the team, which is also critical to mounting a promotion campaign.
Fortunately, his contract situation means we hold the cards when it comes to keeping Pereira or letting him go.
Norwich found themselves in a similar position with the highly courted Emi Buendia, but decided to keep him and were rewarded with promotion.
We would like to see Albion do the same with Pereira, as keeping him would be a big boost for everyone associated with the club.
