Chris Lepkowski says West Brom home kit will not be striped next season
Chris Lepkowski has claimed West Brom will not have a striped home kit for the 2021/22 season.
It is a big change from what supporters are used to, with Albion last having a non-striped kit in 2013/14 – it was pinstripes on that occasion.
Lepkowski compared the new look to Ajax’s famous red and white shirt, so it could end up having a smart look about it.
On The Liquidator podcast, Lepkowski said.
“The home shirt isn’t striped, next season’s shirt.
“I’ve got this on extremely good authority, will, the best way of putting it is to imagine the Birmingham City penguin shirts or the Ajax shirt.
“Where you’ve got a huge block of colour running down the centre of the shirt, with bits on either side that are white, and the bit in the middle is navy, and the sleeves are navy.
“It will be very interesting to see how that goes down with the supporters.
“I believe the away kit is yellow and the alternative kit will have a black shade.”
What to expect
We have to admit that we are disappointed with the move away from the traditional white and navy stripes.
That being said, the news coming out is a little promising in a way, as Ajax kits are always something to be envied.
And this season’s kits are easily forgettable, so we welcome anything that looks more professional.
We will withhold judgement until all three kits are released, and it will be interesting to see if we maintain the yellow and green kit or if there will be no green whatsoever.
A black third kit is also intriguing and has the potential to win fans over if the home strip does not take their fancy.
And as long as the players wearing the kit have the quality to get us back up then we will not be complaining too much.
