Kieran Gibbs posts farewell Twitter message to West Brom fans
Kieran Gibbs has posted a farewell message to West Brom and the supporters ahead of his summer exit from The Hawthorns.
The left-back will move to the MLS and join up with Inter Miami after his contract expired at the Baggies after a shocking year.
Gibbs thanked the fans and has already predicted that they will fire their side straight back to the Premier League at the first chance next season.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, Gibbs actually blocked fans and others from responding to his message online.
“Nothing but love and respect for this club,” he wrote.
“Honoured to have had the chance to play for you. A huge thank you to the team and staff that welcomed me in from day one, and an even bigger thank you to the fans that have supported us right the way through.
“With you behind the team and back in the stadiums I have no doubt you will be back where you belong very soon. All the best, Gibbo.”
Farewell.
Or should we be saying good riddance?
Gibbs has been shocking over the past season and has been well-and-truly dislodged from that left-back spot by Conor Townsend.
The 31-year-old has only started nine games in the Premier League this season, and also added one substitute appearance to that.
Gibbs’ last appearance came in the 2-2 draw against Fulham back in January, and he was at fault for the Cottagers’ goals.
The fact that he is blocked fans from responding says a lot about Gibbs and his tenure at the club, we’re just glad this has come to an end quickly – good riddance.
