West Brom-linked Frank Lampard discusses his future in management on BBC

Frank Lampard kept his cards close to his chest when asked if he had any offers to return to management amid speculation linking him with the vacancy at West Brom.

Earlier this week, the Express & Star reported that Lampard had been sounded out by the Baggies board as they aim to hire a replacement for Sam Allardyce.

However, it was reported that the former Chelsea and Derby manager was not interested in the job at The Hawthorns.

Alan Shearer asked Lampard if his Chelsea sacking in January has put him off management.

Speaking on on BBC One during England’s match against Croatia, Lampard said: “As much as I love the time we’ve got together [on BBC], I’m certainly not put off.

“I love the job, I love the challenge of it. I had two great seasons at Derby and then at Chelsea and then I would love to get back in at the right time.”

Gary Lineker then asked Lampard if he’s had any offers amid reports linking him with a number of clubs.

He replied: “Not that I’m prepared to tell you about, no. Obviously not as good as this, because I’m here.”

Lampard isn’t coming

We can rule out Lampard.

Although we think he could be a good choice for the Baggies due to his previous experience in the Championship with Derby and links to Chelsea and Manchester City, it’s pretty clear that it isn’t happening.

We’ve failed to hire Chris Wilder and David Wagner despite deals being widely reported to have been close to completion and now Derek McInnes is being strongly linked too [Sky Sports].

McInnes did well at Aberdeen, there’s no denying that.

He won the Scottish League Cup with them, took them into Europe consistently and grabbed a number of second-place finishes behind Celtic – even with Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.

But he was criticised for his dull and uninspiring style of play.

We really don’t see that sitting well with the majority of the West Brom support.
