West Brom Super Fans delighted by John Percy’s Valerien Ismael update

This is part of a regular series from our panel of West Brom Super Fans. Each week, Super Fans from our West Brom News Facebook page will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around The Hawthorns.

West Brom fans have been left thrilled by John Percy’s update on Valerien Ismael, with the Frenchman expected to be appointed imminently at The Hawthorns.

The reliable journalist wrote on The Telegraph [21/06/21] that “Ismael’s arrival at The Hawthorns is viewed as a formality in the next few days”.

It’s expected that he will cost £2million to prise from the Tykes, who he inspired to a play-off position in the Championship last season.

It’s been a long, arduous slog to finally bring in Sam Allardyce’s successor, but it looks like we are finally nearing the end of this ordeal.

When Big Sam announced his exit last month, before the conclusion of the Premier League season, many supporters were expecting a fairly swift appointment, given the fact he had maintained all along that the Baggies board would be kept well-informed of his desire.

Even with that in mind, we were prepared to wait a few weeks given the complexities that these negotiations entail.

But we weren’t expecting it to last this long, nor were we expecting all of the barriers that have cropped up.

There were times when the appointment of Chris Wilder appeared a formality, and then David Wagner appeared as a frontrunner before being snatched away by BSC Young Boys at the last moment.

It appears that we finally have a man, rather than ‘our’ man, but the signs are that he is a very accomplished manager, so here’s hoping he can bring some magic to the West Midlands and inspire us to promotion.

In other West Brom news, this Albion youngster has been spotted signing a deal with Chelsea.
