Pat Frost: Wolves don’t want to sign West Brom keeper Sam Johnstone

Pat Frost has insisted that Wolves don’t want to sign West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone in the upcoming summer.

The Athletic reported this week that our near rivals wanted to make a move for the England international to replace Rui Patricio.

The England kit-man, who previously worked at the Hawthorns and is a Baggies fan, and also posted a picture with Johnstone yesterday.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Frost shared a three-word verdict that should hopefully instantly shut this one down instantly.

“No they’re not,” he wrote.

Good try.

Wolves will struggle to reach our price tag for Johnstone, which is suggested to be near £20million after his standout Premier League season.

Patricio looks set to leave, and Bruno Lages will need to look elsewhere if he wants to bring someone to Molineux.

Johnstone leaving The Hawthorns is something that we will need to accept, with the Championship way above his level, he certainly proved that.

It will leave us with either David Button and Alex Palmer in-between the sticks next season, with the younger stopper likely to be preferred by Valerien Ismael.

The Frenchman was finally appointed this week, and Frost appears to have given him the low-down from the England camp instantly.

It will happen, but it would certainly help us accept that fact should Aston Villa and Wolves miss out on our England international.

He has proved he is ready for the Premier League every single season, and it is up to us to grant him that wish with one more year left on his contract.
