West Brom Super Fans react to Matheus Pereira agent comments

This is part of a regular series from our panel of West Brom Super Fans. Each week, Super Fans from our West Brom News Facebook page will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around The Hawthorns.

West Brom fans are in two minds as to whether Matheus Pereira will leave the club this summer after his agent spoke out about his future.

The Brazilian attacker was a rare bright spark in a dismal season for Albion in the Premier League, scoring 11 goals and registering six assists as the West Midlands club were relegated back to the Championship after a one-season stay in the top-flight.

Pereira has been linked with a host of clubs this summer, with the Express reporting that Leeds United have been offered the chance to sign the 25-year-old.

Jolden Vergette, Pereira’s agent, recently spoke to the Express about his client’s future, saying that a return to the Premier League “will present itself”.

Vergette also asserted that Pereira “deserves a club that can follow his work at a high level.”

We asked our panel of West Brom Super Fans for their thoughts on Vergette’s comments and whether it signals a certain Hawthorns exit for Pereira.

Here’s what they had to say….

After reading Vergette’s comments it has confirmed what we already feared – Pereira wants out if he can find a Premier League suitor, and who can blame him.

The Brazilian proved last season that he could mix it with the best, contributing to 17 goals in the top-flight during the 2020/21 campaign.

There won’t be many fans who will begrudge him a transfer this summer, but the deal must be on our terms. He can’t be allowed to leave for a pittance.

Furthermore, that money has to be reinvested into incoming transfers, and that would surely hand us a great chance of an immediate return to the Premier League if we can land three or four important players.
