West Brom to win the race for Trevoh Chalobah

West Brom are set to win the race to sign Chelsea midfielder Trevoh Chalobah, according to the Express and Star.

The report suggests that Lorient, where the 22-year-old spent last season on loan, were also interested in a permanent move.

Chalobah is said to prefer to stay in England if possible, putting the Baggies into the lead after positive talks.

Valerien Ismael looks determined to get this deal over the line, and could pull off a bargain at the same time.

Despite having three years left on his deal at Stamford Bridge, Thomas Tuchel is not said to be demanding a fee for Chalobah.

The midfielder could arrive on a free, and it looks likely given positive talks in the past week or so between the two parties.

With other clubs interested, it was key that West Brom moved fast.

Ismael is selling a brilliant brand of football to his current squad and those who could add to it during this window, something Alex Mowatt spoke very highly of.

Chalobah arrives with Ligue 1 experience behind his name, a top European league, and could make his third Championship spell his best yet.

This deal will bolster midfield significantly, and allow Ismael to strengthen other areas as we approach the season.

The Championship season kicks off in one month’s time, and it looks as though Chalobah will be more than ready for the Baggies.

Hopefully, the new-look Albion can start to take shape over pre-season and we can’t wait to see what else is done.
