West Brom make offer to Chelsea midfielder Trevoh Chalobah
West Brom have made an offer to 22-year-old Chelsea midfielder Trevoh Chalobah, according to the Express and Star.
Writing on their website, journalist Joseph Masi wrote: “They [West Brom] want to make at least one more addition in that area [midfield]– with the Baggies known to be interested in signing Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah.
“The Express & Star understands an offer has been made to the 22-year-old, who is currently assessing his options with multiple clubs chasing his signature.”
Perfect for Ismael
West Brom have been linked with Chalobah for a couple of weeks now, but a recent report suggested Premier League new boys Brentford had joined the race for his signature.
That was surely a blow to the Baggies, but it looks like we have not been dissuaded in our attempts to bring the Englishman to the club.
Chalobah, who earned an FA Cup winners medal when he was named on the bench in Chelsea’s 2018 victory over Manchester United, spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at French side Lorient.
He made 29 appearances in Ligue 1, scoring twice, while he has prior experience of playing in the Championship during spells with Ipswich Town and Huddersfield Town, playing 79 times in the second-tier.
His versatility has surely caught Valerien Ismael’s eye. Chalobah can play in midfield and defence, a trait that will be vital if the Frenchman looks to change between systems, and gives him flexibility in key areas.
It still looks like a deal that could be difficult to reach given there are reportedly a number of clubs pursuing him, but it would be a shrewd acquisition if we can get it over the line.
In other West Brom news, our Albion Super Fans are outraged at a major development over this midfielder’s future.
