West Brom hope to start a bidding war for Matheus Pereira
West Brom want to start a bidding war for Matheus Pereira, with the player keen to leave the Hawthorns this summer, according to the Shropshire Star.
The report claims that the Baggies are looking for £30m for the 25-year-old, and the likes of Leeds United, West Ham, and Eintracht Frankfurt have all entered the race for Pereira and West Brom hope this will start a bidding war.
However, the report also claims that West Brom haven’t received any formal offers for Pereira yet, but you would think that could change with so many clubs keen on signing him.
West Brom to make a huge profit on Pereira?
You could argue that Pereira is one of the Baggies’ only saleable assets in this current West Brom side, so they probably have to try and make as much money from him as possible.
Talk of £30m might sound like a lot, but he really stood out last season in the Premier League.
He ended the season on 11 Premier League goals and provided six assists in a team that finished 19th, so there is no wonder that there are so many clubs keen on signing him.
It will be interesting to see which of these clubs make a move and if it will spark a bidding war for a player who is just 25 and could easily improve.
He has been a fantastic player for the Baggies in his time at the Hawthorns, but it appears as if his time is coming to an end.
We can only hope that the Baggies get the money they want from Pereira, and then they reinvest those funds into Valerien Ismael’s squad.
In other West Brom news, the club have made a move to bring a former player back to the Hawthorns.
