Aston Villa announce signing of Finn Azaz from West Brom, Fabrizio Romano reacts

Aston Villa have announced the signing of 20-year-old midfielder Finn Azaz from Midlands rivals West Brom, confirming the deal on Monday night.

The transfer has been in the pipeline for over a week, but the Premier League club have finally announced it via their official Twitter account.

Birmingham-born Azaz has been immediately sent out on loan to League Two outfit Newport County.

Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano was holding a live broadcast on his Twitch account when he saw the news come through.

He said: “We have an Aston Villa announcement, I was looking at Jack Grealish but it is not about him.

“It’s Finn Azaz, a 20-year-old player from West Brom, and he’s signed on loan to Newport County.”

Another one gone

There looks to be a long queue of our talents heading to Villa Park.

England Under-15 international Triston Rowe recently made the same move, while there are other players that have been linked in recent weeks.

Louie Barry also signed for Villa last year after a short stint with Barcelona following his Hawthorns exit.

Azaz’s exit is particularly peculiar given he played for League Two winners Cheltenham Town last year and was surely aiming for a spot in Valerien Ismael’s squad, and at the least a loan switch to League One.

Instead, he’s left to Villa and has gone straight out on loan to League Two again.

Maybe it was the money, maybe it was the pathway and coaching on offer at Villa, but what we do know is another West Brom player has left, someone that has been at the club since the age of nine.

It’s another sore one to take for supporters.

In other West Brom news, the Albion have lost this talent to Aston Villa as player changes his Instagram bio.
