West Brom winger Robert Snodgrass reacts to major John Terry-Aston Villa announcement
West Brom winger Robert Snodgrass has delivered his reaction to the news that John Terry has left his role as Aston Villa assistant manager.
The Midlands club confirmed the 40-year-old’s departure on Monday morning [26/07/21] after three years spent on the coaching staff at Villa under Dean Smith.
The ex-Chelsea captain initially joined as a player in 2017, while earlier this summer The Liquidator Podcast host Adrian Goldberg discussed him as a possible successor to Sam Allardyce at Albion with the managerial position left vacant.

Despite Goldberg claiming Terry would be “on their radar”, nothing came out of that, but the former England captain has now made his move to pursue a career as a manager.
After announcing the news via his personal Instagram profile, 33-year-old Albion ace Snodgrass replied: “All the best mate.”

Glad it’s not us
Had Terry made this decision two months ago, speculation would surely have soared to dizzying heights with Albion on the lookout for a new manager after Allardyce’s exit in May.
A whole host of big names were linked with The Hawthorns job, including Terry’s ex-teammate and close confidante Frank Lampard.
The former Derby County manager may have been popular among Baggies, but Terry would have been an extremely controversial name.
His glittering playing career and esteemed reputation as a Premier League coach may have sent him to near the top of the Albion shortlist to succeed Allardyce, but a large section of the fanbase would likely have opposed any appointment, given Terry’s list of controversies on the pitch and off the pitch.
Indeed, we asked out panel of Albion Super Fans what they would have made of Terry as the next manager, and the replies were pretty scathing.
His Instagram announcement received a lot of love from current players, including Albion’s Snodgrass, who played with him at Villa during a loan spell between 2017 and 2018.
But there doesn’t appear to be quite as much love among Albion fans for him.
In other West Brom news, the Albion have lost this talent to Aston Villa as player changes his Instagram bio.
