Pat Frost impressed with Diangana Grady’s transformation ahead of new campaign

West Brom start life back in the Championship with a trip to Bournemouth on Friday (August 6th), and Pat Frost is excited ahead of the season.

The former Baggies kit man continues to support the club and has remained a vocal fan on social media.

Frost has been particularly impressed with Diangana Grady’s transformation under new head coach Valerien Ismael and the pre-season preparations, and he took to his personal Twitter account to share his thoughts ahead of the new campaign.

He posted: “The transformation of Grady is great to see, the high press is great to watch. Pretty decent pre-season.

“Next week is a massive test for us and I can’t wait. See you at Bournemouth”

Shall we begin?

West Brom ended pre-season with a 4-0 win over Birmingham City, with second-half goals from Diangana, Matt Clarke, Karlan Grant and Rayhaan Tulloch seeing off the hosts.

Ismael’s side played four friendly games during the off-season, winning 1-0 over Woking, 2-0 against Sheffield Wednesday and playing out a goalless draw against Watford before yesterday’s emphatic victory.

We do not read much into pre-season games, and while they do not mean a lot, they are perfect preparations for a new boss looking to instill his style of play into his squad, and the Frenchman would have been pleased with the little he has seen.

Nevertheless, there is still a lot of room for improvement, and the boss would always make necessary adjustments and changes going forward in the campaign.

Diangana was below par last season, ending the campaign with just a goal in 20 Premier League games and falling out of favour under Sam Allardyce.

He has looked every inch like that player that bagged eight goals and assisted six others in 30 Championship games in 2019-20 at the Hawthorns in recent weeks, and we are confident that he would play a huge role in our bid to seal immediate promotion.
