West Brom stars react as Kyle Edwards bids West Brom goodbye

A host of West Brom players have taken to Instagram to wish 23-year-old winger Kyle Edwards well after he signed for Ipswich Town on Monday.

The Dudley-born attacker was announced at the League One club yesterday, but before posting his new side he opted to reflect on the club he left earlier this summer.

He posted his gratitude to West Brom on his personal Instagram profile after 17 years of service, leading a number of his former teammates to reply in the comments.

Matt Phillips, Dara O’Shea and Karlan Grant were among those to wish him luck while 20-year-old Rayhaan Tulloch commented “your time”.

Grady Diangana also replied: “Skip, missing you already brother.”

Edwards was clearly a well-liked character within the dressing room and that will be a big loss to the Albion, even if his playing abilities will be easily covered.

The Albion academy graduate failed to impress in limited minutes last term which made his Hawthorns exit an inevitability in the final year of his contract.

But his influence on some of the side’s key players cannot be underestimated, and losing someone with so much passion for the club is bound to be a blow of sorts for the Baggies.

Edwards joined Rekeem Harper out the exit door this summer, and with the likes of Finn Azaz also moving on, there are fewer academy stars at the club by the day.

Our young players are either getting poached by rival clubs or are failing to make that final breakthrough to become first-team regulars, and that is something that will need to be addressed to ensure we are making full use of our academy.

In other West Brom news, an English club have made an approach to sign this Albion player.
