Joseph Masi wowed by West Brom defender Conor Townsend
Express and Star journalist Joseph Masi has lauded the crossing abilities of West Brom left-back Conor Townsend.
Speaking on the Baggies Broadcast [09/08/21], Masi has suggested that Manchester City striker Liam Delap, reportedly on Albion’s shortlist [Express and Star] this summer, could be drawn by the possibility of playing alongside Townsend and a quartet of attackers.
He said: “If I was a striker I’d love to play with Grady Diangana, Karlan Grant, Callum Robinson and Matt Phillips. If he is in the centre and has two of those on either side of him, he’s going to get chances.

“You look at Conor Townsend, he’s an unbelievable crosser of the ball, an unbelievable crosser.
“For me, Albion have got to be a very, very attractive proposition for Liam Delap.”

New formation, new lease of life
West Brom, for the most part, played a four-man defence last season.
Townsend made just 12 appearances in the Premie League, mainly owing to injury, and when he was in the side he was often forced to defend for large periods as Albion struggled to impose themselves on top-flight teams.
However, he is now fully fit and has a license to roam after moving forwards slightly from left-back to left wing-back.
That will allow him to bomb forwards and send in some inch-perfect deliveries into the box.
He may not be Chris Brunt, but his trusty left-foot is sure to wreak havoc in the Championship this season.
But all that will be fairly futile if Albion do not sign a centre-forward who can get onto the end of his crosses.
Someone like Delap, or Daryl Dike, would be perfect with their powerful physique and poaching tendencies.
Fingers crossed a deal is done for one of them as soon as possible.
In other West Brom news, an English club have made an approach to sign this Albion player.
