Okay Yokuslu-Wolves links shot down by journalist amid West

Express and Star journalist Liam Keen has played down reports suggesting 2020/21 West Brom loan star Okay Yokuslu could join Wolves this summer.

There have been various reports detailing the Premier League club’s interest in the 27-year-old midfielder, but Keen has addressed those links via his personal Twitter profile on Wednesday afternoon [11/08/21].

He wrote: “I understand reports linking Okay Yokuslu to Wolves are wide of the mark.”

Spanish news outlet AS also recently reported that the Turkey international could return to The Hawthorns this summer after a loan which, while it was fairly successful on a personal level, ultimately ended in Premier League relegation.

AS claimed in an article [26/07/21] that Yokuslu was open to re-joining West Brom, and that Valerien Ismael’s side had a deal in progress, but that has quietened down in August.

West Brom

Never a Dingle

We wouldn’t be enraged if Yokuslu joined Wolves as, after all, he needs to maximise his career, and any move to the Premier League would have to be considered by him.

But if it can be avoided, then great. We don’t want to see him in their colours after winning the hearts of Albion supporters last season with some industrious displays in the middle of midfield as we battled in vain against relegation.

We’re still holding out some hope that a lack of suitors may lend itself to Yokuslu returning to Albion later in the transfer window, but perhaps that is fanciful thinking.

He proved his worth in the Premier League last season, and he deserves an opportunity to resume his career there.

In other West Brom news, an English club have made an approach to sign this Albion player.
