Matthew Marsden urges West Brom to ditch Kenneth Zohore

Matthew Marsden has urged West Brom to ditch striker Kenneth Zohore after Saturday’s 3-2 win over Luton Town at The Hawthorns.

The West Midlands club claimed their first win of the season after Callum Robinson and Karlan Grant added to an early Kal Naismith own-goal for the visitors.

Danish centre-forward Zohore only came on the field in the 71st minute, but Hollywood actor and Albion fan Marsden was unimpressed with his impact.

Marsden wrote on his personal Twitter profile: “Zohore should never put the shirt on again.”

Too soon?

Zohore certainly didn’t make a positive impact after being subbed on for Karlan Grant.

He looked slow and cumbersome leading the line while he picked up a yellow card in the closing stages.

There were plenty of other Albion fans who shared a similar line of thought to Marsden after yesterday’s game.

But it’s a bit soon to demand he never pulls the shirt on again, isn’t it?

Of course, it’s not as if the 27-year-old is a new signing – he scored just five times in 20 appearances during the 2019/20 campaign after arriving from Cardiff City and was loaned out to Millwall last season.

He’s certainly not a striker we want to hang our hat on for the entire 2021/22 campaign, but Valerien Ismael has spoken positively about him recently, and Zohore has also detailed his determination to fight for his Albion career [Shropshire Star].

We need to sign a striker before the transfer window shuts, but Zohore can still be useful as a squad player if he cannot be moved on this month.

Maybe we’ll be making similar declarations to Marsden after Zohore makes a few more appearances, but for now, let’s get behind him and back the manager.

In other West Brom news, an English club have made an approach to sign this Albion player.
