David Meyler ‘gutted’ for Dara O’Shea after injury
West Brom defender Dara O’Shea was all over the headlines on Wednesday evening as the Republic of Ireland took on Portugal.
First, Cristiano Ronaldo took a wild swipe at the enforcer after he kicked the ball off the penalty spot that he eventually missed.
After that, O’Shea was then forced off the pitch with injury with what looked like a horrendous ankle problem.

David Meyler was one of those watching on, and he was gutted with what he saw as O’Shea left the field.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, the Irishman and former Premier League mainstay shared his verdict.
“Gutted for Dara O’Shea,” he wrote.
“Hope he’s okay.”
Gutting.
It would be a major blow for everyone involved.
O’Shea has been the standout performer at The Hawthorns so far, and has really shined since the arrival of Valerien Ismael.
If that was to be disrupted by a major long-term absence through injury, it wouldn’t be fair on the club or player.
Matt Clarke is already out injured until October at least, and another blow in the same area of the pitch would leave us very light.
Fingers crossed that good news comes back from the assessment that is bound to happen, but missing the rest of the international break would surely be best at this stage.
Ismael and his team will be keeping a very close eye on developments in the coming hours and days from Ireland.
