Luke Hatfield: Ismael would be impressed with the industry of Jayson Molumby
West Brom brought in Jayson Molumby from Brighton on loan in August, and the midfielder will be looking to impress in a bid to earn a permanent move.
The 22-year-old Republic of Ireland international is yet to feature for the Baggies, but Express and Star journalist Luke Hatfield expects him to establish himself as a key player under Valerien Ismael given his industry.
Hatfield does not see Molumby becoming a part of West Brom starting XI anytime soon, but he reckons fans would appreciate his dedication and style of play.
The E and S journo told Football Transfer Tavern about the midfielder: “He’s another player Ismael would have liked, I think. I don’t think he’ll walk straight into the starting XI, I think he’ll be a player that comes in and really competes with Jake Livermore and Alex Mowatt for them starting spaces in midfield.
“He offers plenty of hard-working abilities, he’s one of those players that might not be the flashiest in the world, but he certainly puts in a shift and that’s exactly what Ismael wants in those midfield roles.
“He doesn’t necessarily need them to produce goals and assists, I think he’s hoping his front three will do that. Molumy is one of those players who will run his socks off for the team and I think the fans will appreciate that as well.”
The Frenchman does not have a starting spot for everyone he brought to The Hawthorns during the summer transfer window, but he has a role for them, and the Irishman is expected to help contribute to the team’s promotion bid.
Molumby fits into the new style of play at West Brom and will be looking to give the current starters a run for their money going forward.
The midfielder signed with a view to a permanent transfer, and he now has to prove that he can earn a deal in the coming months.
The club have started the Championship campaign well, but there are still a lot of games to go, and having enough quality in depth in every department will come in very handy.
Ismael have the youngster and Adam Reach to call on in the middle of the park if need be, and both will be hoping to be more than ready to immediately step into action and impress anytime their services are beckoned upon.
In other West Brom news, the Baggies ace has picked up a nasty injury on international duty.
