Dara O’Shea to see specialist this week as West Brom face anxious wait

West Brom are set to learn the fate of Dara O’Shea at the end of this week as he was forced to end his international break early.

The Irishman picked up a serious ankle injury in a defeat against Portugal last week and returned to The Hawthorns early.

The Birmingham Mail has reported that O’Shea is set to visit an injury specialist this week, with swelling on his ankle refusing to leave.

Joseph Chapman has shared the latest news on Monday afternoon as the Albion wait to find out how bad the injury is.

“Clearly unable to be ready for selection in Ireland’s following World Cup qualifiers – they drew with Azerbaijan over the weekend and then welcome Serbia to Dublin this week – O’Shea was sent back to Albion to be assessed,” he wrote.

“The 22-year-old is set to be seen by a specialist later this week, with his ankle still swollen and that swelling must be allowed to reduce before the seriousness of the damage can be determined.”

The worst is yet to come?

We are all fearing the news that is going to come.

O’Shea looked in serious discomfort leaving the field, and it’s no surprise given that he fell on top of his own twisted ankle.

Valerien Ismael will be fearing the worst too, with Matt Clarke already out for another month at least with his own injury.

Semi Ajayi, Kyle Bartley and Cedric Kipre are all available but should one of those pick up a problem in the coming weeks, we will be down to the bare bones.

Hopefully, there will be good news once the swelling goes down, but if that takes a full week, it may not be the answers we are looking for.
