West Brom Super Fans react to Finley Thorndike Aston Villa announcement
This is part of a regular series from our panel of West Brom Super Fans. Each week, Super Fans from our West Brom News Facebook page will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around The Hawthorns.
West Brom fans have expressed their disappointment that yet another academy graduate has joined Midlands rivals Aston Villa.
The list of young talents swapping the West Midlands for Birmingham is growing, with Finn Azaz, Tim Iroegbunam and Triston Rowe all making the move earlier this summer.
Finley Thorndike can now be added to that list after the Aston Villa official website announced last week that the 19-year-old had joined their academy after training with the club during the summer.
Thorndike left West Brom in July after failing to make a first-team appearance, but he has managed to make the step up back to a Premier League club.
We asked our panel of Super Fans what they thought of Thorndike’s Aston Villa arrival and whether Albion could be left to regret his departure.
Here’s what they had to say…
The conveyor belt of Albion talent ending up at Villa must seem never-ending to Baggies at the moment.
Even when they do not leave directly they inevitably end up at Bodymoor Heath.
Louie Barry is the most famous example after the teenager left for Barcelona in 2019 before joining his boyhood club Villa just months later.
It remains to be seen whether they make the grade at Villa, while Albion look to their next crop of emerging talents.
