Kevin Phillips discusses Callum Robinson’s return to the West Brom team

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…

Kevin Phillips has been left excited with West Brom forward Callum Robinson set to return to the starting XI against Millwall on Saturday.

The 26-year-old missed the Baggies’ game against Peterborough United before the international break due to Covid, but he played for the Republic of Ireland in the international break.

Valerien Ismael also confirmed that he was back for the Baggies, and Phillips is very excited to see the former Sheffield United man return [Birmingham Mail].

Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Phillips said: “Massive.

“We spoke about it before the Peterborough game that he would be a miss, but they did the job; they got it done without one of their best players.

“Now, he’s back, which is a huge boost. The fans, the squad, the manager have to get over losing O’Shea but [a] positive is having Robinson back in the squad.

“Let’s hope he links back up with the other two up front.”

Huge news for the Baggies.

Robinson has started the season in fine form with three goals and one assist in his first four league games.

In this new system, he has looked almost unplayable at times and has been getting plenty of opportunities to score goals, while he has also been terrorising defenders.

Remember, this is a player who has been described as “wonderful” by Don Goodman and did pretty well in the Premier League last season for the Baggies [Sky Sports 06/08/2021].

So, it is fantastic that he is back for this match, and we look forward to seeing what he can do against Millwall.

The 26-year-old will be making his 50th appearance for West Brom if he plays, and it would be brilliant to see him mark that landmark with a goal as Ismael’s side look to continue their unbeaten league run.
