David Prutton predicts West Brom v Derby County scoreline

David Prutton has backed West Brom to maintain their position at the top of the Championship with a win over Derby County on Tuesday night.

West Brom host the Rams at The Hawthorns with both sides in contrasting form.

Valerien Ismael has overseen a six-game unbeaten start to his Championship reign with Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Millwall enough to see them leap above early pace-setters Fulham.

Derby, meanwhile, are 16th and winless in their last three second-tier fixtures.

Writing his predictions on the Sky Sports website, EFL presenter and pundit Prutton believes the game will go the way of the form book.

Prutton predicts more misery for Wayne Rooney’s side in a 2-0 win for West Brom.

Back to winning ways?

Saturday must have felt bittersweet for Ismael and Albion.

While pleased to have gone top of the Championship, there will undoubtedly have been regret that they could not hold onto all three points against Millwall after Kyle Bartley’s goal was cancelled out by Daniel Ballard.

They will have a great chance to right their wrongs against Derby, a club that spent much of the summer in turmoil amid behind-the-scenes difficulties that hampered their attempts to add more quality to their squad.

Derby lost 2-0 to Birmingham City on Friday and there was little to suggest that they will cause too much trouble to Ismael’s men.

These are the sorts of games that Albion will be targeting all three points in as they bid for automatic promotion back to the Premier League.
