Kevin Phillips predicts West Brom v QPR
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
West Brom are aiming to break a three-match winless run in the Championship as they take on QPR at The Hawthorns on Friday night.
Valerien Ismael has seen his side win just one of their last five matches in all competitions and three consecutive draws versus Millwall, Derby and Preston have seen Albion drop down to third in the league.
QPR are also winless in their last three league outings, suffering defeats in their last two Championship fixtures.
However, the London club did win on Tuesday night as Charlie Austin scored twice in normal time to help them beat Premier League side Everton on penalties in the Carabao Cup.
Former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips is backing his old side to return to form when they play under the floodlights at The Hawthorns this week.
He’s predicted a 2-1 victory for the Albion that would see them move top of the Championship table.
Speaking to West Brom News, Phillips said: “It’s a huge game against QPR.
“They’re in really good form but if West Brom can win that, the last three draws don’t look as bad.”
West Brom are unbeaten in their last four games against QPR.
The last time the two sides met was in July 2020 when the Rangers earned a 2-2 draw at The Hawthorns.
It was a nail-biting match for the Baggies that, but it was also the one in which Slaven Bilic’s side won promotion to the Premier League.
