Valerien Ismael reveals that West Brom star Alex Mowatt hurt his toe again
West Brom star Alex Mowatt was withdrawn from the game against Birmingham City due to a bruised toe.
Valerien Ismael revealed in his post-match press conference [via the Birmingham Mail] that the 26-year-old had injured his toe, which had previously made him a doubt for the game.
Mowatt started and lasted just over an hour before he was replaced by Jayson Molumby, who turned in a brilliant display from the bench.

Speaking about Mowatt, Ismael said: “Alex is the same injury, a bruise on his toe. He took the right decision to come off; we need to manage him for the next game.”
Wise decision from the Baggies.
When you saw that Mowatt was starting, we can imagine that most Baggies fans were relieved, but the game just passed him by.
Now, it seems pretty clear to us that he wasn’t 100% fit for the game on Friday, and we just have to hope that he is fine to play against Swansea City.
This season, Mowatt has been one of the Baggies’ standout players and has earned an average WhoScored rating of 7.21, which is very good.

This seems like a relatively positive update from Ismael, and it appears as if the player decided to come off, which indicates that he knows his body and knows when he can’t carry on.
He should probably be admired for coming off because some players would carry on and potentially make the injury worse, ruling them out for a longer period of time.
However, he came off, and the Baggies won, and we just now have to hope that he is available for the game against Swansea.
