Ian Holloway hails 'fantastic' Karlan Grant after West Brom beat Birmingham City 1-0
Ian Holloway has been left thrilled with the recent performances of West Brom forward Karlan Grant, as he shared via EFL on Quest [Discovery].
The 58-year-old, who has managed the likes of QPR and Crystal Palace, was speaking about Albion’s 1-0 win over Birmingham City on Friday.
He reserved warm words for the matchwinner Grant, who struck from distance in the 75th minute.
“Karlan Grant’s finding his feet, that’s four in his last four,” Holloway said.
“It’s a big step up to be a big-money signing in a Premier League side that’s struggling to win so he’s just found his feet and it’s a joy to see him do it.
“That’s a fantastic strike that made all the difference.”
Proving his worth
Grant joined West Brom in a big-money move from Huddersfield Town last year but he failed to fire the West Midlands club to safety, scoring just one Premier League goal in 21 appearances.
The 23-year-old struggled to even make it on the pitch towards the end of the season as Sam Allardyce preferred the likes of Mbaye Diagne instead.
He began the 2021/22 campaign in the Albion starting XI under Valerien Ismael but struggled to provide the goals again, scoring once in his first eight games.
However, a brace in a 2-1 win over QPR last month seems to have sparked Grant into life, following it up with a goal at Cardiff four days later [28/09/21].
His latest strike, against Birmingham, has seen his popularity soar among the Baggies faithful who can now see his value to the side.
