Andy Hinchcliffe stunned by Karlan Grant goal for West Brom v Swansea
West Brom got off to the perfect start in their Championship clash against Swansea City on Wednesday evening.
With not even a minute on the clock, Karlan Grant fired home the opener after great work from Callum Robinson and Jake Livermore.
Andy Hinchcliffe was left stunned on live commentary with Robinson and Grant as they took advantage of the sloppy home passing.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Hinchcliffe was also very complimentary of Livermore for his work in midfield winning the ball back.
“It’s brilliant link play,” he said.
“They just put pressure on, this is what West Brom do, they step onto opponents, put them under pressure and win that ball back – that’s what Livermore does.
“Matt Phillips then releases the pass to Robinson, he’s unselfish. He gets his head up and lays it on a plate for Karlan Grant. Great start for West Brom.”
Wow, what a start this was.
Grant’s goal summed up everything it is to be playing for the Baggies under Valerien Ismael since he arrived at The Hawthorns.
Livermore was perfect in his press so early in the game, and that is what opened up the space in the final third and the likes of Robinson and Grant took perfect advantage.
Swansea couldn’t believe it and neither could their fans as some weren’t even sat down in their seats before the ball hit the back of the net.
Grant is brimming with confidence right now, and there isn’t anyone playing better in the Championship – long may it continue.
