Valerien Ismael shares injury latest on West Brom star Alex Mowatt

West Brom midfielder Alex Mowatt has not yet been 100% ruled out of the Championship clash with Bristol City on Saturday.

After missing the 2-1 loss at Swansea, the midfielder will be hoping to take on the Robins at The Hawthorns tomorrow.

Valerien Ismael has confirmed the latest on Mowatt, sharing that he is being assessed as we speak, but no big risks will be taken on his fitness.

Speaking in his press conference this afternoon, via Joseph Masi on Twitter, Ismael shared the latest on our star man.

“We’ll see, we’re assessing him,” he said.

“If he has the chance to play, he will. We don’t want to take any risks, for sure we want to have Alex, but my focus is always to get players 100 per cent fit.”

Risk or not to risk.

Ismael may not have a choice when looking at the current state of his squad.

Jake Livermore is definitely ruled out after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Swansea, and subsequently a one-match ban.

Jayson Molumby is now guaranteed to start tomorrow, and there could be a shock start for Robert Snodgrass or Quevin Castro alongside him.

Mowatt isn’t one to shy away when needed, so even at 90%, he will surely be begging to start this weekend.

No matter who is selected, three points are vital tomorrow and the squad must do whatever it takes to return to winning ways – we have to stay close to that top two.
