Kevin Phillips blown away by Karlan Grant form at West Brom
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
Kevin Phillips is delighted with Karlan Grant’s form in front of goal with the West Brom forward scoring for a third consecutive game versus Bristol City on Saturday.
Grant, 24, now has six goals in his six Championship appearances for the Baggies and seven overall this season after scoring in the straightforward 3-0 win over the Robins at The Hawthorns this weekend.
Only five other players have outscored Grant in the Championship this term and Phillips is backing the former Huddersfield forward to get 20 goals for Albion.

Speaking to West Brom News, Super Kev said: “I’ve said all along he’s got it in him, it’s just about finding consistency and being the man to step up and score 20 goals.
“Well, he’s got six in six, he’s shown he can score. His goal against Birmingham was a quality finish, he stepped in half a yard back, snapshot and finish. Great finish.
“We’ve seen some really good and clinical finishes from him this season and he clearly enjoys playing on that left-hand side, cutting inside onto his right and taking a shot.
“He’s full of confidence at the moment but it’s just about consistency.
“The big thing for him is he’s got hope [Valerien] Ismael picks him every week because he’s not afraid to leave people out or drag people off at half-time.”

Grant has started Albion’s last six Championship matches so while Ismael likes to rotate his front-three, it’s usually Grady Diangana, Callum Robinson and Jordan Hugill who are chopped and changed.
Grant’s been one of the best players at the Baggies in recent weeks and we owe a lot to him for our league position right now.
On Saturday, Ismael’s side played their best football since September and hopefully that can continue well into November and the winter period that usually causes problems for this club.
