Kevin Phillips delivers verdict on Jayson Molumby form at West Brom
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
Kevin Phillips is impressed by what he’s seen from West Brom loan star Jayson Molumby in the last few weeks.
Molumby, 22, joined the Albion on loan from Brighton in the summer with a view to the deal being made permanent next year.
He’s only recently started to feature regularly in Valerien Ismael’s side due to an injury to Alex Mowatt.

Molumby made his full debut in the defeat away at Swansea on Wednesday before making his full home debut on Saturday as the Baggies beat Bristol City 3-0 at The Hawthorns.
While Mowatt has been one of the stars of the show for Ismael this season, Molumby has certainly impressed and Phillips is happy with what he’s seen from the exuberant Ireland international.
“It was tough for him to come in and make his full debut away at Swansea but he looks like he has that bit between his teeth,” Phillips told West Brom News.

“He puts himself about, he gets stuck into tackles. He’s probably a bit over-enthusiastic but he’s certainly trying to impress.
“He started at Swansea and it didn’t go as planned but I saw bits in that game where I thought, ‘has he got that guile, that quality that Mowatt has?’.
“I’m not so sure he has yet but he’s certainly got that determination.”
Mowatt missed Albion’s 3-0 win versus Bristol City due to an injury while Jake Livermore also missed out as he was banned.
Robert Snodgrass started alongside Molumby in the middle of the park and both impressed as Ismael’s side won with ease.
