Chris Lepkowski slams West Brom defending against Middlesbrough

West Brom were held at home by Middlesbrough at The Hawthorns on Saturday, with the visitors securing a hard-fought point in the 1-1 draw.

The Baggies almost suffered their fourth defeat of the season, and they were far from inspiring.

Boro forward Duncan Watmore initially tried his luck before teeing up Isaiah Jones who worked it to Josh Coburn for the first goal of the game.

While the fantastic finish from the Boro ace came against the run of play in the first-half, West Brom were poor defensively, and former Birmingham Mail journalist Chris Lepkowski was far from pleased, slamming them on his personal Twitter account.

He said: “Really poor defending. The last few minutes have been like Crap90s Football.”

Woeful

West Brom last won back-to-back league games in September, and fans are already used to this level of inconsistency.

They needed to battle for the draw, coming back in the second-half thanks to Grady Diangana.

They have won thrice and lost three of their last seven games, with the defeats and victories coming interchangeably.

Valerien Ismael’s side could not follow up their Hull City victory with another against the mid-table side, but they can’t have any complaints despite playing better in the second half.

They play Huddersfield Town after the international break and will be hoping to pick up another three points as they look to finish in the top-two this term.

The Albion have the quality to become more consistent, but their struggles are somewhat baffling, and they were lucky to prevent defeat against Boro, who came close to winning at the death.
