Jeff Stelling shares West Brom and Grady Diangana verdict amid 1-1 draw v Middlesbrough

Jeff Stelling has shared his verdict on West Brom after their 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough at The Hawthorns on Saturday evening.

Neil Warnock’s side took the lead in the first half as 18-year-old Josh Coburn struck past Sam Johnstone, but Grady Diangana scored his first goal of the season to level the scores.

That goal prompted Stelling to say on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday: “It’s been a long time coming, his first goal since September 2020.”

Then, after the result was confirmed, Stelling delivered a worrying suggestion on Valerien Ismael’s side.

“West Brom just beginning to stutter a little bit,” he said.

Automatic spots fading away

There are still 29 Championship games remaining in the season, but as the weeks go by, Albion’s chances of finishing in the top two get weaker.

They are now six points behind second-placed Fulham, with Bournemouth two points ahead in top spot.

Both teams won on Saturday while Albion stumbled at home to a beleaguered ‘Boro.

At this rate, even a play-off spot is in doubt.

West Brom have won just three times in their last seven games, form that does not scream promotion hopefuls.

Ismael now has two weeks to work with the majority of his side on the training pitch with the November international break about to kick in.

He will know that there is much to work on as he plots a change in fortunes.

In other West Brom news, this Albion ace suffered a major injury blow against Middlesbrough.
