Simon Jordan rubbishes West Brom example as Jim White moots Sam Allardyce for Norwich job
Simon Jordan has used West Brom as an example when discussing Daniel Farke’s potential successor at Norwich City.
The German boss was dismissed from his duties at the Canaries on Saturday evening, and attention has turned to his replacement.
“I’m just wondering if Norwich need more of a relegation specialist, I hesitate to say it, but Big Sam,” Jim White said on talkSPORT [09/11/21].

Ex-Crystal Palace chairman Jordan replied: “They’re [managers like Allardyce] done. West Brom were done. Everyone knew West Brom were done.
“Everybody knew, even Sam if he’s probably honest, everybody knew that his act was economically driven to some extent but the fact that Sam went into West Brom, everyone with half a brain thought that this is probably going to be the one that catches Sam out and it did, so you can’t keep on pulling these people out. Sam Allardyce, Tony Pulis…”

Out with the old?
Jordan seems to be suggesting that relegation-threatened clubs should cease the constant merry-go-round of the same battle-hardened managers in English football.
Instead, Jordan has mooted Frank Lampard as a potential successor to Farke at Norwich.
It’s six months since Allardyce departed The Hawthorns after Premier League relegation, but it’s an interesting discussion point given Valerien Ismael’s inconsistent start to life at Albion.
While Ismael is no novice in the managerial game, he was considered a fairly fresh and exciting appointment in June when he swapped Barnsley for the West Midlands after a successful eight months in charge of the Tykes.
However, many fans have been less than enamoured with the style of play introduced, and some may even be harbouring for Allardyce back at the club.
Ultimately, though, only Allardyce knows his motives for taking the Albion job last year.
One would like to think that he had the belief in his abilities to haul them out of the relegation zone and further enhance his reputation as a Premier League survival specialist.
