Bayern Munich threaten to derail West Brom attempts to tie Reyes Cleary to new terms
Bayern Munich are stepping up their efforts to prise Reyes Cleary away from West Brom, according to the Daily Mail.
Cleary, 17, has sent scouts into overdrive this year with his prodigious talents for the Albion youth teams.
The “powerful” attacker has drawn admiring glances from Premier League sides like Newcastle United and Crystal Palace, with the latter particularly keen.
West Brom, though, have been keen to tie Cleary down to a professional contract.
However, Bayern are said to be stepping up their interest in the teenager in movements that could derail Albion’s attempts to sign him up
Another one going?
West Brom have seen a slew of young talents leave the club in the last few years, notably Louie Barry, who has ended up at Aston Villa via Barcelona.
Villa have also taken a number of other Albion talents recently, such as Finn Azeez, and it seems to be a continuing theme.
The Baggies just cannot stop their emerging stars from being snapped up by wealthier clubs.
There’s something to be said for the club producing top talents with fewer resources, and whether the authorities should be making more efforts to prevent ‘elite’ clubs from snapping them up.
However, there has to be a time when enough is enough and Albion make a stand.
Cleary has shone for the youth sides and surely has the capabilities to break into the first-team within the next couple of years.
But he could be tempted by the lure of Bayern unless Albion can convince him to stay, perhaps with the promise of game time.
In other West Brom news, this Albion ace suffered a major injury blow last week.
