West Brom man Matt Phillips blows Darren Bent away

West Brom man Matt Phillips really impressed Sky Sports pundit Darren Bent in the first half against Blackpool.

The Baggies couldn’t find the breakthrough, and the game is still 0-0, but that didn’t stop Bent from being impressed by the Baggies winger.

West Brom are looking to stop a run of four away defeats in a row, and they appear to be on course to do that though wouldn’t they just love a winner.

You would think if they are going to pinch one, Phillips might be the source as he was good in that first half.

Bent speaking on Sky Sports, said: “Matt Phillips is getting on the ball trying to make things happen.

“They’ve started really well; I think the manager will be happy with the intensity.”

Good half from Phillips.

Valerien Ismael has a few options in his side, but he decided to go with Phillips, and it seems as if he impressed Bent with his display.

The former QPR man hasn’t actually had the best season for the Baggies as he has only scored three goals and provided a further two assists.

However, he was getting on the ball and probing and taunting the Blackpool defence.

He certainly looks like he is in the mood, and you would think that it would only be a matter of time before he creates something that one of his teammates could profit from.

The Baggies have controlled this game so far without creating too much, so let us all hope that they can find an extra gear to push on and seal a big three points in the second half.

Judging by Bent’s comments, you would expect that Phillips would be involved in any potential victory.

In other West Brom news, Kevin Phillips has had his say on Taylor Gardner-Hickman’s contract situation.
