West Brom scout Sheffield Wednesday attacker Josh Windass
West Brom have reportedly scouted Sheffield Wednesday talisman Josh Windass ahead of a potential January transfer.
According to Football League World, the Baggies are keen on signing a forward this winter and have identified the 27-year-old as one of their options.
Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers, Stoke City and Hull City have all been watching the player and want to acquire the Englishman’s services.
The Baggies are in desperate need of an attacker in the January window and will take anyone with the experience and know-how, at the moment.
Valerien Ismael knows that failure to secure promotion could lead to him losing his job and he needs to do everything he can to match that aim.
Goals have been hard to come by for his side and signing Windass could help solve that problem.
While Windass is more of a number 10 or a shadow striker, he can also be deployed as a number nine, although that’s not his ideal position.
He prefers dropping deep and then making runs beyond the forward who’s leading the line.
The 27-year-old comes highly recommended and has been impressing people in the game for a while.
In 2016, back during his Accrington Stanley days, his manager John Coleman waxed lyrical over his finishing, labelling one of his goals “fantastic”. [Club’s official website]
Windass has certainly come a long way from those days and is a much more polished player who would be a good fit for Ismael at the Hawthorns.
