Pat Frost thrilled by Taylor Gardner-Hickman’s performance in West Brom 1-0 v Reading

West Brom secured a 1-0 win over Reading at The Hawthorns on Saturday, doing so without several of their first-team players who contracted covid-19 prior to the game.

Valerien Ismael had to make changes as a result, with Taylor Gardner-Hickman featuring at left wing-back, and Pat Frost was blown away by the performance of the 19-year-old, taking to his personal Twitter account to shower praise on him.

The versatile made his Championship debut at right wing-back in November, and despite playing at the other flank today (11 December), he felt completely at home, putting in a top shift.

The former West Brom kitman said: “Just back from a happy Hawthorns.

“Great win under the circumstances.

“If we don’t quadruple TGH wages and give him a new deal tonight, he is going to play for a top 6 club.

“Of that I’m sure.”

The EFL forced West Brom to play the game despite the coronavirus outbreak at the club, and while Ismael was hoping it would be postponed, the Frenchman would be glad with the result his side got.

Gardner-Hickman was one of the best players on the pitch tonight, and there is no doubt that he will start to attract suitors from the Premier League very soon if they have not already taken note of him.

Callum Robinson’s first club goal since August earned the Baggies all three points as they moved to within three points of second-placed Bournemouth.

They have now extended the only unbeaten home record in the Championship to 11 matches, and it was a huge performance from them in the circumstances they found themselves in.

TGH has now played four league games for Albion this term, and he could soon force his way into the starting XI.

Whoscored named him their man of the match, and that does not come as a surprise.

He could soon become one of West Brom’s most important and influential players if he continues at this rate.
