West Brom Super Fans react to Folarin Balogun claims

This is part of a regular series from our panel of West Brom Super Fans. Each week, Super Fans from our West Brom News Facebook page will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around The Hawthorns

West Brom Super Fans have flocked to a post on the West Brom News Facebook page about Folarin Balogun.

Kevin Phillips believes that the 20-year-old would be a brilliant signing for the Baggies in January.

He told West Brom News this after a claim from Alan Nixon emerged linking Albion with a move for Balogun.

This drew the attention of our Super Fans, who are split.

Balogun to join the Baggies?

The 20-year-old has consistently scored goals for the Gunners’ youth teams.

For example, this season, he has bagged 15 in just 13 games, which is an impressive record.

He has also managed to make nine senior appearances in total. Three of those have happened this season, but they have only led to 77 minutes on the pitch.

Therefore, you can see why a loan to the Championship would be beneficial to the Baggies because he could be the man they need to score the goals, and they also wouldn’t have to spend any money.

However, some of our Super Fans feel that if the Baggies were going to bring in Balogun, why wouldn’t they just play Reyes Cleary?

The 17-year-old has also been scoring a lot of goals in youth football and hasn’t had any first-team game time yet.

So, could the solution to Albion’s goalscoring woes lie within their academy?

Well, it is certainly possible, and we can see why some Super Fans believe he would be a good option, but Balogun could be an excellent signing.

In other West Brom news, Matt Phillips has been ruled out of the Reading game through injury.
