West Brom duo Karlan Grant and Alex Mowatt available for game v Cardiff
West Brom manager Valérien Ismaël has announced that Karlan Grant and Alex Mowatt will both be available for Sunday’s game against Cardiff.
The boss told the media that the pair will both be in contention for the match, we are informed by West Brom Express & Star reporter Joseph Masi’s tweet.
Grant reportedly recorded a false positive COVID test after the defeat to Derby on 27 December while teammate Mowatt was absent after falling ill with the virus.
Ismaël also mentioned that Grant has been able to train all week.
Masi’s tweet read: “Valerien Ismael just held his pre-Cardiff presser. Karlan Grant and Alex Mowatt [are] both available for the game. Grant actually recorded a false positive Covid test ahead of Derby so has trained all week.”
Grant’s inclusion will be a major boost for West Brom going into this game against Cardiff City.
The Baggies are presented with the perfect opportunity to see in the New Year with a victory over the relegation-threatened side. It is also a great chance for Ismaël’s men to bounce back after a disappointing loss to Midlands rivals Derby on 27 December.
Grant is West Brom’s top scorer this season, scoring nine times in 23 appearances in the EFL Championship. The Englishman will be hoping to recapture positive form and start rivalling those right at the top of the scoring charts.
Mowatt will also be an excellent addition to the manager’s options ahead of this match.
The former Barnsley midfielder was hyped up by the French coach earlier this week who backed his player to improve and bed in further.
Mowatt could prove to be one of the best free transfers in recent EFL Championship history if he enters a rich vein of form in the New Year.
