Daryl Dike receives warm welcome from USA teammate Zack Steffen

USA national teammate Zack Steffen has taken to Instagram to congratulate Daryl Dike on his move to West Brom and welcome him back to England.

Dike made the move to the Baggies from the MLS and Orlando City for an initial fee of £7million [ESPN] with performance bonuses also part of the deal.

The American international will look to inspire West Brom to the Premier League so he can face his teammate Steffen.

The Manchester City goalkeeper posted on his Instagram story: “Congratulations on the move fam! See you soon.

Football friends

Dike having a friend in England and also so close will do him the world of good. He already has experience in the Championship, and would no doubt still have friends he can call upon from his time at Barnsley.

But having a friend who has gone through the same experiences as Dike has and from the same country will do him the world of good. Not to mention how close they’ll live from each other with their two clubs being just over an hour’s drive away from each other.

This will really help soothe the long-term transition Dike faces.

Despite both playing for clubs in England, the pair have much more opportunity to spend time together off the pitch rather than on it.

Steffen plays for Premier League champions Manchester City with Dike playing in the Championship (for now).

If Dike is determined to play against his mate, he could set them on a promotion charge so that the two sides could meet in the topflight next season.
