Larry Henry Jr compares West Brom signing Dike to Romelu Lukaku

West Brom star Daryl Dike has been dubbed the next Romelu Lukaku by US football expert, Larry Henry Jr.

Albion have had a clear issue in front of goal this season, holding the record for the least goals scored amongst the top six with 31 goals in 25 games.

Their signing of the Championship proven goalscorer is a bid to keep up with Bournemouth (Solanke), Fulham (Mitrovic) and Blackburn (Brereton) respectively who all have their own forwards in immense form.

Henry Jr. believes Dike can be the Baggies’ star man to take them to the next level.

“Daryl’s biggest strength is his ability to make himself available all over the pitch,” he told the Express and Star

“In the opposing 18-yard box he is always looking to fight off defenders and get free for a shot or header. He is a poacher and rewards his clubs with many goals off rebounds and through determination.”

He added: “I see Daryl playing a similar style to Romelu Lukaku or Christian Benteke during their younger years.

“Both players are strong at their hold-up play and being a constant threat in the box, and Daryl has looked to take a similar route to his game.”

Pressure

Dike looks to have all of the qualities to be a superstar in the making. He is reminiscent of Lukaku during his time in West Brom, the pair share a similar presence up top with the ability to hold up the play and score goals – something the Baggies are desperate for.

Albion supporters should try not to get too carried away though. Despite having a successful half a season under his belt at Barnsley, the striker is still learning his trade.

He knows Valerien Ismael somewhat well but he will need time to adapt to his new teammates and the differences in life at Albion compared to Barnsley.

This move has a lot more riding on it than his previous loan spell in the Championship and the weight of the challenge could play a part in his transition into the West Brom team.

The 21-year-old has all of the qualities the Baggies are after in a striker and hopefully he can repay that trust given to him for the remainder of the season.
