Valerien Ismael claims West Brom need ‘more outgoings’ in January

Valerien Ismael has stated that West Brom need ‘more outgoings’ throughout the remainder of the January transfer window.

The Frenchman has urged any unsatisfied players to come forward at the Hawthorns as the boss looks to find a healthy balance for his squad.

The Baggies acted promptly at the start of the window, securing their main target, Daryl Dike.

Albion will be keeping a close eye on their departures, if there are any, before considering making any more signings.

“At the minute there is nothing on the outgoing situation,” Ismael told Birmingham Live.

“We will see the next few weeks, but as I say at some point if a player is unhappy and wants to play more, we need to talk and to find a solution.

“Now it’s clear – we did our job. We got our number one target in the early days of the transfer window. We did our homework, but it’s clear as I say that we need outgoings.

“We don’t need too many players – we need happy players who are dedicated, committed to West Brom and it’s important to create that environment with a smaller squad.

“At the minute we need more outgoing and then we go from there.”

Dead wood

This shouldn’t come as a surprise for any West Brom fan. Lai Guochuan isn’t exactly a free spender, and nobody can have any complaints this window with the signing of Dike.

If the Baggies do offload anymore players to free up some funds for potential incomings or even create a healthier atmosphere amongst players in the squad, there are plenty of options.

Jordan Hugill is the first name that comes to mind. With Dike essentially coming in as his replacement and the Englishman’s form being catastrophic in the West Midlands, nobody would have any complaints if Norwich were to recall the flop.

Robert Snodgrass and Kenneth Zohore are amongst the senior players whose time looks to be up at the Hawthorns and could be moved on by the end of the window.

Ismael could also look to move some of Albion’s youngsters out on loan deals to strike a healthy balance between playing and non-playing members of the squad.

Alex Palmer and Rayhaan Tulloch are two of several future prospects that could benefit from consistent first-team football, something they currently aren’t finding at with the Baggies.

Ismael hasn’t got time for any distractions and is aware he needs to be able to invest all of his energy into players that want to be there and can make an impact in turning the season around for West Brom.
