Darragh MacAnthony reacts as West Brom forward Callum Morton joins Peterborough
West Brom confirmed on the official website today (13 January) that young forward Callum Morton has joined Championship rivals Peterborough United on loan until the end of the season.
The Posh owner, Darragh MacAnthony, has taken to Twitter to express his reaction. He has thanked the Baggies for making the deal happen.
Petersborough are struggling at the bottom half of the table, and their latest signing could give them the lift they badly need now.
MacAnthony wrote on Twitter: “Delighted to welcome Callum Morton on loan till the end of the season to Petersborough, and some more strength in our Striker department. Thanks to West Brom for making it happen.”
Good deal for everyone
The 21-year-old is a highly talented young forward and he would be a very good addition to the club.
He spent the first half of the campaign at Fleetwood Town in League One where he managed seven goals in 22 appearances in all competitions.
The young striker also enjoyed loan spells at Braintree Town, Northampton Town and Lincoln City.
The youngster, however, is yet to make a senior appearance for the Baggies.
He is a player who is full of energy and with an eye for a goal. His dynamism will help Posh who are fighting hard for survival.
Morton impressed during his loan spell for the Cobblers, where he managed eight goals in 12 games.
Slaven Bilic previously hailed him as a “special” player, but a move away on loan seems the right choice for his development.
The only thing that concerns here is his lack of goals in League One. However, the talent is definitely there.
In other West Brom news, this duo have returned from loan after struggling for game time.
