West Brom 'not letting go' of transfer pursuit for Vedat Muriqi - report

West Brom are ‘not letting go’ of the potential January signing of Vedat Muriqi, with Lazio making their demands clear according to Corriere della Sera.

The Baggies have been linked with a move for the Lazio striker this month after he made it clear he wanted an exit from the Italian capital.

While he is desperate to leave, West Brom aren’t the only club interested in signing him as Leeds and CSKA Moscow have also made their interest known.

According to Corriere della Sera though, the Russian club have made an offer for the player but West Brom are refusing to let go of the deal and remain at the table.

Lazio have made their demands clear, a permanent deal or a loan with an obligation to buy in the summer. So far, nobody has met their demands.

Weird one

Muriqi would be a clear upgrade on their current striker options, potentially including Daryl Dike, but the move just seems weird from all angles.

Firstly the player wants a return to Turkey, so with no Turkish clubs at the table, it means he would be joining any club just to simply get away from Lazio rather than actually wanting to join that club.

Add to that the uncertainty surrounding the future of manager Valerien Ismael currently, the system the team play with just one striker and the other clubs competing for a deal, it just seems a bit farfetched.

West Brom would have to move heaven and Earth to convince him to join, but whether he’d actually do that just seems unlikely.

Having just signed Dike, it seems unlikely that they’d be in the market for another striker so soon after bringing the American to the club.
