Hull City line up alternative and pull out of race for West Brom target Vedat Muriqi

Hull City have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Lazio striker Vedat Muriqi amid links with a move to West Brom in January.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Serie A club are keen on cashing in on the 27-year-old centre forward this month and the Baggies want to sign him along with Leeds United.

Hull were believed to be in the race for his services, but have now pulled out and has been lined up as a replacement, per Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.

Worth the hindrance?

Strikers were an issue at the start of the season and Jordan Hugill’s arrival did nothing to allay those problems.

However, now that they’ve signed Daryl Dike, they should be able to manage without signing another one this month.

What Valerien Ismael needs is for some creativity behind the strikers as they’ve struggled to muster anything in front of goal.

Muriqi was labelled “fantastic” by Kosovan Football’s Twitter handle after he became the first player from that country to play in the Champions League.

At 27, he does not offer any resale value either so if we were the decision makers at the club, this would be a transfer that we avoid at all costs.

Instead, signing a creative midfielder could go a long way toward solving the problems and helping the club challenge for a promotion spot.
